Re: Suggested rules for Mail ?

I'd guess you're asking about requests to load remote images. This will depend on how you want your email to act. Do you want to see all the images and formatting like the sender intended, or would you be satisfied with some form of "text only"? Images are often stored remotely and need to be retrieved from another server, which generates LS connection requests.

Using a broad "allow" rule or two will load the images without generating connection requests; unfortunately this will also allow web bugs and email trackers to function. Whether that's important or not is a matter of individual opinion and preference.

Blocking remote images is usually best done in the email client. Look for a preference item to block remote objects, or HTML. In that case no connections are attempted and LS doesn't get involved. Best to have no rule at all in LS (other than to and from the email server), that way if a connection request is generated it would be notice that something isn't right.

Trying to go half-this and half-that is rather difficult. One strategy is to block remote objects in the email client, then if one wants the images for a specific message there's usually a way to tell the email client go ahead and load them. LS will then ask, and those questions can be handled individually.
