I don't mean to trample on your work, but pressing CMD+G while LB's open will send the foremost Finder window's selected file (or open folder) to LB.
You can find this option under Options > Select > Get Finder Selection. Alternatively, instant send works for this too.
With a file/folder selected you can then press tab, then "Copy Name" or "Copy as Plain Text" would do the trick.
