"Tethering" on Desktop, or Laptop, Macs, tends to use a hidden software-device named "en2".
You might be able to block this using a customized Intego VirusBarrier X6 firewall, with the Anti-spyware in VBX6 turned-off, and handed-over to LSv3.
SSH attacks can be similarly blocked by blocking incoming TCP port #22 for all devices.
